With the help of DeSoto County 4-H, Mrs. Ricketts and Ms. Simpson, Memorial Elementary teachers, have organized an after school “Garden Club” for students! This is a weekly after school club that meets on Thursdays. Students have been able to plant outside plants, and make use of the school’s new “greenhouse” that was generously donated by Volunteer Florida. MES has also received another generous donation from the Education Foundation for future needs as the garden program grows. Wonderful things can happen when the community partners with our schools!
