DHS JROTC Cadets Visit Georgia’s Fort Moore!

From March 27 – 29, 2024, thirty DeSoto High School JROTC cadets partook in a three-day, two overnight field trip to Fort Moore, Georgia! Cadets traveled by charter bus, stayed inside Army barracks, and ate meals in the Army Dining Facility. The trip’s  objectives were to expose cadets to career opportunities in the United States Army, learn about the history and capabilities of the United States Army, and provide cadets with an opportunity for team building and socialization. The cadets had fun participating in adventure training, and had opportunities to interact with active duty soldiers and leaders. Cadets were also afforded the opportunity of rappelling off of a 40-foot tower, participating  in a guided tour of different exhibits at the National Infantry Museum, and operating in teams to negotiate a physically challenging obstacle course. Cadets also drove Army combat vehicles (Abrams Tanks, Bradley Fighting Vehicles, HMMM V's) in a simulation facility!
