Last week, the DeSoto High School Saxophone Quartet received a “Superior with Distinction” score at the Florida Bandmasters Association's State Solo & Ensemble Festival held at the Dreyfoos School of the Arts in West Palm Beach! Musicians in this ensemble are Ivan Garcia, Owen Leath, Jose Contreras, and Diego Martinez. Their score was the highest rating students can earn at the State level after advancing from the District level!
In related news, the quartet impressively performed the composition “Volcanic Ash'' - by Chris Evan Hass - Tuesday night at the Desoto School District Board Meeting (video below).Upcoming, the quartet, along with the DHS Music Department, will perform on April 18th at the Fine Arts Festival, May 3rd DHS Band Spring Concert, May 9th DMS Band Spring Concert, and May 10th DHS Choir Spring Concert.
