DHS “Green Club” Helps Arcadia Community

 
The DeSoto High School Green Club is an environmental club is dedicated to promoting sustainability and community involvement. Through the direction of DHS Teacher Jessica Gonzalez, Green Club members help operate a school-wide recycling program. Every Thursday, members collect and sort recycled materials (which include paper, cardboard, and plastic bottles) from the 25 teachers who participate in this program.
 
Members then volunteer and take these materials to a recycling facility. Additionally, group members engage in community events such as Downtown Arcadia's Main Street clean-ups, where they assist the Garden Club restore their native garden, and organize “clean-ups” in Morgan Park and DeSoto Veteran's Memorial Park. The Club’s next plan is to start a garden or flower beds with native plants on campus. These activities highlight the club's commitment to environmental stewardship and community service.
