DHS Agriculture Students: Immersed in Animal Science

DeSoto High School Agriculture Teacher, Mrs. Courtney Beswick, and her 1st period Animal Science II class, recently spent time with Veterinarian, Dr. Dustin Cordle, to "work" the DHS school herd of cattle.

Students, under the supervision of Dr. Cordle, assisted with giving animals shots, deworming, and even palpating heifers to determine if they are pregnant--all general herd maintenance. These types of experiences are vital for students interested in going into the agriculture industry or for maintaining their own private animals at home.

As a bonus, even the school principal, Dr. Joshua White, participated! Agriculture students included Savannah Gray, Blake Gross, Jamee Hampton, Erin Jones, Emery Skinner, and Lincoln Phillips.
