2025 Special Olympics
The DeSoto County School District is hosting our 7th Annual Special Olympics Field Day Event on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at the high school football field. The event will pair 150 athletes from ages 3-22 with 150 high school "Buddies". There will also be 150+ volunteers in attendance. Activities will include: shotput throw, softball & tennis ball toss, long jump, bowling, obstacle courses, several bounce houses, giant Connect 4 & Jenga, and more! The JROTC will assist in all aspects of the day such as setting up, parking, presentation of arms, being "Buddies", & cleaning up. The high school culinary team will provide a hot lunch for everyone to keep their energy levels at their peak performance. We will have special visitors from the DeSoto Fire & Rescue Department, the DeSoto County Sheriff's Department, and the DeSoto County Police Department. The "fan favorite" is always the "Suncoast Humane Society" as several canines mingle their way around the field to encourage the athletes. The athletes are excited to have their day to shine!
