DeSoto Virtual Academy is a school of choice and offers a full‐time virtual program for students in grades K‐12. DeSoto Virtual Academy is a public school and follows the Student Progression Plan of the School Board of DeSoto County. Accordingly, students take part in district and state testing, are held to Florida compulsory attendance laws, and have the opportunity to earn a standard high school diploma if all requirements are met. Students work from home and parents are responsible to see that students complete required work daily. Students are required to take 6 courses per year/semester.  All DVA students can particpate in their zoned school activities and high school graduation ceremonies! DVA teachers are located in the DeSoto Middle School to allow access for one-on-one or small group tutoring when needed.

A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Welcome DeSoto Virtual Academy Families to the 2021-2022 school year!

As online learners establishing clear expectations and setting realistic goals for your child is imperative to success. It is vital to create a proper learning environment and encourage active participation in online activities. Please prepare an unobtrusive learning space free of distractions such as cell phones, tv’s, games, etc. Students please check in and complete your attendance every day and don't forget to click the submit button at the bottom of the page or you will be counted as an unexcused absence. Monitor academic performance, progress throughout the school year, and contact your teacher regarding concerns or to request further help. We teach and expect all students to exercise and display good Digital Citizenship. Please encourage this with your child as well. Also, make sure to monitor students’ mental health and contact the school for supplementary resources and support if you notice any changes in your child’s mood or a resistance to engage in online learning.

At DeSoto Virtual Academy, we will strive to create the best learning environment for our students online, and with all of us working together, I know we will make this happen

Looking forward to a great year and Go Bulldogs!
