Family Service Center Students Visit Desoto County Library

On Friday, January 19th, Mrs. Debbie Langley's morning ESOL class, joined by the Family Service Center’s Literacy class, visited the Desoto County Library!

According to the Heartland Library Cooperative website, the “DeSoto County Library is committed to providing user-oriented services to all citizens…Also provided are public computers with internet service and a children’s computer center equipped with educational games.”

This recent Family Service Center academic field trip as a fun excursion that helped to inform students on the location of different library resources, as well as the many free services the Desoto branch provides residents. These services include training tools, computer classes, and literacy aids that lend assistance to older adults in staying better engaged with current technology. Students also participated in a fun activity where they created “keychains” with materials made from the library's new Cricut machine!

The Division of Career and Adult Education is the post-secondary department of the School District of DeSoto County. This division serves the adult residents of DeSoto County by offering instructional programs of Adult General Education (ESOL/ AGE/GED), Career and Technical programs and a comprehensive Family Literacy program.
