The Nocatee family demonstrated how much it shares and supports the
community and its causes not only once but twice.
During a three week stretch in late March and Early April,
the Nocatee family collected over $2,000 for two worthy causes.
The first was the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.
Our students, their families, the faculty and staff raised
$951 through our annual auction.
During the auction, tickets were bought for $.25 or 5 for a
$1, and then placed in the bag that was by the item wanted.
At the end of the auction, one ticket was drawn and that
person won the item. All
the items were donated by the Nocatee family.
The entire school enjoyed watching and participating in the
auction. A special “Thank You!” goes to Mrs. Joy Buschner and Mrs.
Miqueila Butts for overseeing this project.
During the two weeks prior to spring break, the students collected
donations for the Lions Walk for Sight.
The students asked for donations from friends, family and the
community to support the Lions Club and its program to provide
glasses for those students in need.
The walk took place Friday, April 11th
with the entire school walking twice around the perimeter of the
school yard. As the walkers
finished, they were treated to a cup of lemonade before heading back
to class. The students
raised $1,053.11. The top
collector was Emily Taylor who received a special prize for her hard
work. The top twelve
collectors were also given a special Lions Club t-shirt.
A special incentive this year was for the class with the
highest percentage of collectors.
Nocatee had two classes with 100% participation in
collecting. These two
classes will receive a pizza party for their hard work and their
teachers will receive a special lunch for their encouragement.
The winning classes were Ms. Bellan’s First Grade and Miss
Barriball’s First Grade.
The Nocatee family is to be commended for its willingness to share.
