Basketball to compete in districts

Districts for basketball are quickly approaching. Our varsity bulldogs are number two seed in our district. The number one seed is Booker, number three is Avon Park, and number four is Palmetto.

The Bulldogs record is 13-7. For districts the record is 6-3. The district tournament will be held at Sebring High School Monday, February 6, 2006. Coach Kip Rhoten stated, “The toughest teams we played were Booker and Port Charlotte. Booker had talented guards and Port Charlotte had discipline. They are all good solid teams. The whole district is good, it will be tough, but we can do it. They are all good solid teams.”

The state championship hopes depend on the drive of our Varsity team. They will be depending on the leading scores Sheldon Shine who averages 23 points per game and Shavon Shine who averages 16 points per game. Most people say that defense and free throws win games, which is why Tavares Pressly will be extremely important in districts. He makes 74 percent of his free throw shots from the free throw line.
