For all the fans who attend the baseball games of the 2006 season, the seats will be a lot more comfortable.
The Bulldog Baseball Field will receive brand new bleachers. The new bleachers will be covered and have restrooms and a storage facility underneath. These bleachers will be able to seat more than twice the amount of fans than the old bleachers.
Funding for the new bleachers was donated by Clyde Hollingsworth. “This town has given so much to me and my family and I thought this would be a great way to give back to the community. I saw how bad the fields looked after the hurricanes and something had to be done.” Hollingsworth has donated to the school district in the past to fund the Bulldog football stadium.
As expected, the baseball players are very excited about the new bleachers. Freshman and Junior Varsity player Jake Thornton, "I believe the new bleachers will bring a bunch of new fans to the games and I hope this will enable us to host a district game."
Assistant Principal Trent Terry said," The new bleachers will make the field fan-friendly and will bring more people to the games."
Although, some Bulldog athletes aren't so pleased with the new addition. "The new bleachers for the baseball team is unfair. The softball team goes farther in districts," Varsity softball player Arianne Paul.
"The new bleachers will definitely give us an advantage because more people will come to our games for support," Varsity player Kyle Steyer.
Construction for the new bleachers is already underway and should be completed by February .
