Luis Alvarez
Director of Band

Mr. Alvarez is a native of Puerto Rico. At the age of 9, Mr.
Alvarez moved with his family to Orlando, Florida and later moved to
Melbourne, Florida where he completed high school career at Eau Gallie
High School. Mr. Alvarez earned his Bachelor of
Science in Music Education from Southeastern University which is located
in Lakeland, Florida. He recently graduated from the University of
South Florida where he earned a Masters of Music in Instrumental
Conducting under the tutelage of Dr. William Wiedrich. Mr. Alvarez
is a member of the Florida Music Educators Association and the Florida
Bandmasters Association.
Mr. Alvarez has been married to his college sweetheart Shannon Alvarez for four years. Mr. and Mrs. Alvarez are proud parents of Caleb Alvarez and they are expecting their second child in mid April.

Jenny Hickox
Dance Instructor
|
Mrs. Hickox, a 1999 Graduate of DeSoto County High School, is a
native to Arcadia, Florida. Mrs. Hickox attended the University of
Florida as well as South Florida Community College where she earned an
Associates of Arts in Dental Hygiene and currently she works for a local
dentist. Mrs. Hickox is the owner and instructor of "Footworks"
dance studio which is located here in Arcadia. She has danced for
the past 13 years and has made it her passion.
Mrs. Hickox has been married for 4 years to Jason Hickox and has a 10 month old daughter Jaylin. This is her first year with the DeSoto County High School's Blazing Blue Band and she looks forward to continue to work with the band for years to come.
