 SAC- School Advisory Council

 

 Minutes

October 11th, 2004

 Attendance:

                     Brittany Sandante, Anwar Allen, Karen Allen, Shirley Adcock, Tim Backer,

                     Jolaine Konstantinidis, Lois Heine, Stephanie Heuer, Daniel Dubbert, Betty

                     Bynes, Ann pepper, Pat DeSilva, Linda Shayman, James Goddard, and

                     Anna Clausing.

 

I. Minutes:

                 The minutes were accepted with two corrections:

                         1). Debbie Barnwell is a Junior class sponsor, not Senior.

                         2). The words " for future educational needs" be added to the special SAC

                               meeting minutes behind 10% to SAC budget.

 

II. Treasurer's Report:

                  Ms. LaCava reported we have a $11,382.00 in available funds. Approved

 

III. Old Business:

                        1). The new SAC membership list was presented, and accpted as is.

                               Pepper/Bynes motion.

                        2). Mr. Goodard and class sponsors will talk to class officers about

                             attending SAC meetings to report class activities.

                        3). Minutes to the special SAC meeting were passed out and approved.

                        4). Make-up days have been set.

                        5). FCAT testing has been moved back two weeks. (Week of 3/14/05).

 

IV. Reports:

                   Renaissance:

                     Ms. Heuer reorted date changes for activities:

                              Dec. 3rd., Feb. 18th., and Apr. 22nd.

 

                   Seniors:

                    No report available.

 

                  Juniors:

                   Working on float, Homecoming dance, selling t-shirts and beads, fair

                          parking, concession stand with the band, and Prom.

 

                   Sophmores:

                    Working on float, and planning a concession on Oct. 30th. at the Fall Festival.

 

                   Freshman:

                    Having a bar-b-que Friday.

 

                  Principal's Report:

                  Mr.Goddard thanked all the staff for all the help he is receiving on his first

                         DeSoto Homecoming.

                        Club "tapping" will be the week of the 17th.

                        Year book staff is selling $3.00 raffle tickets for a 56" big screen T.V. to be drawn

                         the second week of Dec. (T.V. was donated by Earl Smith from Ft. Myers).

                        The football team is 5-0!!

 

V. New Business:

                 Ms. Pepper asked if anything was being done about the sidewalk between the

                 Middle school and the High School. Mr. Backer said he would check on the problem.

                 Ms. LaCava asked if Mr. Longnecker could put a link on the website for SAC. She

                 would talk to him.

 

VI. Discussion:

                     1.  Ms. LaCava was hoping to have channel 1 up for viewing today.

                     2.    It was asked if the band could have 10 minutes at half-time to perform their

                         show. Yes they could.

                     3.   It was brought up that the floats be moved immediately after trophy presentations

                          at half-time this Friday. Yes, they would.

                     4.  It was asked if lights could be put up outside by the band room, as there used to

                          be 4 there before the hurricanes, and it is very dark back there after the games.

                         Yes, it would.

                     5. Parking at Turner center for Homecoming game and Hardee game. Mr. Dubbert will 

                         check on it.

                     6. Visitor stands for the football field are still trying to be located.

                     7. Open house will be Oct. 19th.

                     8. It was asked if there was a way to keep people moving on the sidewalks and around the concession stand

                          during the games. They will try to have more help.

                   

There being no further business, meeting was adjourned.

 

Next meeting will be Mon. Nov. 8th, at 5:30 in room #210.
