SAC – School Advisory Council

March 13, 2006

 Attendance:   Chuck Poe, Karen Allen, Linda Shayman, Shirley Adcock, Tim Backer, Bill Stanko, Lucille LaCava, Kim Nugent, Dan Dubbert

 

The meeting was called to order at 5:30 p.m. by Tim Backer.

 

I.                   Minutes:    approved

II.                Treasurer’s Report:  approved

III.             Old Business:                                      

     

IV.              Reports:

 

A.      Renaissance – Ms. Heuer was not present for the meeting but left a  

                                report, which was read by Mrs. LaCava. (report

                                available upon request)

B.      Classes:

                         Seniors – No report

                           

                        Juniors – Requesting help at the upcoming Rodeo.

                                         Class meeting March 14th

                                          Have placed an article in the newspaper asking

                                          for help from parents.

 

                                          Sophomores – Ordering class rings on April 6th

            

                        Freshmen - No report. 

 

C.  Principal’s Report: Improvements for handicap access and walking

                                        will be done at the softball and baseball fields.

 

                                        The Key Club will paint the #’s and paw prints in

                                        the student parking lot.

 

                                        FCAT testing was organized and went smoothly

                                        due to the efforts of Mrs. Shayman and the

                                       Guidance Department.

 

                                       Construction on the baseball field is not complete

                                        but useable for the fans.

 

                                        8th grade orientation will take place when we

                                        return from Spring Break.

 

                                       Math Department is celebrating 300 years of Pi

                                       and is requesting $100.00 for awards and prizes

                                        for the activities scheduled on March 14th.

                                       Members agreed to allocate $103.14 for this

                                       activity.

 

                                       Baccalaureate is scheduled for May 14th, which is

                                      Mother’s Day.

 

 

    V.           New Business :          8th grade parent registration night will be April 11th.

 

                                                        Mr. Backer will not be in attendance at the April

                                                        10th meeting.

                                             

                                                        Shirley Adcock asked if the tiles in the restrooms

                                                        will be the same as the hallway tiles?

 

    VI.         Discussion  -                Kim Nugent brought up the danger to students in

                                                        the parent pickup driveway. Mr. Dubbert reported

                                                        that money has been allocated to put in sidewalk at

                                                        the north and west of this area and that gates for

                                                         people to walk through will also be placed at  these

                                                         locations.

 

                                                         Discussion about a sidewalk south of the softball

                                                         field.

 

                                                        Mr. Dubbert stated that an email had been sent to

                                                         notify everyone that the swing gate, of the

                                                        Teacher parking lot, will be closed during school 

                                                         hours and opened each day at 4:00 for people to

                                                         park for the softball and baseball games.

 

    VII.       Adjournment - Meeting adjourned at 5:50 p.m.
