To All 2008 Seniors/Parents:                                               

The next few months will be very busy getting ready for scholarships, grad night, Prom, graduation, and Project Graduation.

  • We are planning a Senior DVD of High School Memories; please submit 3 photos of yourself and classmates to Mr. Longenecker by March 20th, 2008.

  • Please pick up applications from the DCHS Guidance department for the Community Scholarships available to 2008 seniors. Check the DCHS Website and www.facts.org for additional scholarships that are available. (March)

  • Disney Grad Nite is a graduate - only private party featuring R&B artist Ne-yo, pop-punk sensation, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, rising stars, The Last Goodnight and Reggaeton artist Cheskob. Grad Nite will be Saturday, April 26th, 2008. The buses will leave DCHS student parking lot at 6pm and return approx. 4:00-5:00 am. Grad Night tickets will be on sale in the cafeteria, Wednesday, Thursday, & Friday – February 13th, 14th & 15th AND February 20th, 21st, & 22nd, 2008. These will be the only days to purchase tickets. Tickets are $60. Per person, this includes transportation via Charter buses and Disney’s Blast Off Party at the Magic Kingdom. The Blast Off party includes attractions, DJ’s and a meal, it will be held from 8pm till 10pm, we won’t have to worry about exiting or re-entering the park for Grad Nite. Once we are there, we are there for the night. If your parent is interested in chaperoning, please have them contact Mrs. Fussell or Mrs. Bateman, ASAP. There are Disney Grad Nite Student Guidelines, see attached flyer.

  • Saturday, May 3rd, 2008 is the Junior/ Senior Prom at the Turner Center, seniors will receive a ticket, compliment of the Junior Class.

  • Tuesday, May 20th, 2008, at 7pm is the Top 10% Banquet at Owens School.

  • Thursday, May 29th, 2008 at 6:30pm is Your Senior Awards in the Gym at DCHS. Mandatory for Seniors to attend with your cap & gown. (You should receive cap & gown week of May 19th)

  • Sunday, June 1st, 2008 at 5:00pm is Baccalaureate Ceremony in DCHS Gym. Mandatory for Seniors to attend with cap & gown.

  • Thursday, June 5th, 2008 at 8am is an official practice for Graduation (wear cap & gown) meet at the Turner Center.

  • Friday, June 6th, 2008- Graduation Day!

    • 8am is the Senior Breakfast at DCHS Cafeteria.

    • 9am is Mandatory Practice for Graduation at Turner Center

    • 5:30pm be at DCHS cafeteria for Graduation Line Up (you will be bused across street)

    • 7pm, Commencement will begin at Turner Center. Doors will be closed by 7pm, no one allowed to enter once commencement begins.

  • Graduation Information: Diplomas will be available for pick up after the graduation ceremony at the Turner annex building.

  • Every Senior will be offered 7 tickets, if your family requests more; they will be made available through the high school office.

  • Children under 5 should not be brought to Graduation ceremony, babysitting services will provided at DCHS media center.

  • Families of 2008 Graduates, please remain in your seats, Mr. Cline will provide your senior a professional picture of him/her receiving their diploma. Please turn off cell phones and pagers. Please remember Balloons are very hard to see around. (you don’t want to sit behind a bunch of balloons?)

  • When wearing Cap & Gown:

  • Dress Shoes, No Tennis Shoes, No Flip Flops
  • Dark Pants, White Shirt & Tie for Guys
  • Men Remove Cap during Prayer
  • Girls, remember bobby pins for caps
  • NO GUM, NO CELL PHONES or BEEPERS, NO PURSES, NO KEYS (girls)

 

  • Friday, June 6th, 2008 the 1st Desoto County Project Graduation will begin at 11pm at DCHS Gym. Doors will be locked at 12:30 am; if you leave a parent will be notified. Great Prizes, games and events will be available to Seniors attending. A Great opportunity to PARTY together as the Graduating Class of 2008!

We are planning class meetings on the 1st Wednesday of every month, right after school, please try to attend.
