The school faculty at Memorial Elementary is divided into groups called Vertical Team Houses. The “Firecrackers” team is made up of K, 1^st, 2^nd, Reading coach, ESE, and transition classes between K-1, and 1-2. They work to familiarize themselves with all of the students under their care, discuss ways to improve behavior, academics, ideas, and strategies. The team decided last year to have a monthly award system to recognize students that deserve special recognition. The reasons vary from academic gains, to improvement, to character and leadership. This year, however, they changed the recognition awards. Students will receive a certificate, get their name in the school-wide newsletter, and have a group photo taken for The Arcadian.
